Long Lake Fire Still Out Of Control

It is essential to monitor the evolution of conditions throughout the day, considering that fire activity has intensified in the late afternoons over the past few days. Securing critical areas today would be highly advantageous, as tomorrow's weather may favor fire propagation.
Current resources include 35 DNR, 39 BC and 31 local firefighters, 2 Newfoundland and 4 NWT planes, 1 DNR and 5 contracted helicopters, and 18 pieces of heavy equipment.
Authorities are warning the public to avoid the Lake George Wildfire Evacuation Area. All safety barriers in place must be respected to protect public safety and the safety of emergency responders.
The Red Cross has established a 24/7 Reception Centre/Emergency Shelter at Louis Millett Centre in New Minas, and impacted residents are urged to register at the Centre or phone 1-800-863-6582.
